Concrete Pumps: Getting to Know the Different Types

Choosing the right type of concrete pump for your business is not always an easy decision, especially since there is a wide variety of concrete pumps on the market to choose from. At Concord Concrete Pumps, we want to help make your life easier by introducing you to the different types of concrete pumps and how they can help your business.

Boom Pump

A boom pump uses a remote controlled arm, which is mounted onto the back of a truck, to pour concrete. This arm can accurately pump concrete into every corner of the construction site, and can range from 20 to 60 meters in length. One of the best benefits of this type of concrete pump is its long reach and ability to quickly pour a high volume of concrete. Boom bumps are most commonly used in large construction sites because they can pump a lot of concrete in a very short amount of time, while also keeping labour requirements to a minimum.

Trailer or Stationary Pumps

Trailer or stationary pumps are standalone concrete holders that can be transported on a separate trailer. This particular type of concrete pump requires a pipeline, consisting of multiple sections of rubber or steel pipes, which are linked together and mounted onto the pump. The last piece of the pipeline is a rubber placing hose or boom, which makes it easier to pour the concrete with greater accuracy. One of the main benefits for this type of pump is that you can make the pipeline as long as needed in order to reach the intended site. The trailer or stationary pump can even be used on projects that are several kilometers away, making it ideal for tunneling work or high-rise constructions.

Truck Mounted Stationary Pump

Stationary pumps can also be mounted onto the rear of a truck, which provides workers with the advantage of greater reach than a typical boom setup. This setup means that your truck will always be ready to head straight to the work site without the hassle of needing to attach the truck or trailer. Another great advantage to mounting a stationary pump to your truck is that the truck will potentially have enough storage space to hold pipeline that could easily reach a distance of up to 100 meters.
